The Fish Shack, Amble Harbour

One of my favourite places to go to eat locally has to be The Fish Shack on Amble Harbour. Anyone who follows my social media pages will know I’m a big fan and visit regularly. The rustic cosy vibe here is just perfect with locally caught seafood and delicious dishes I can’t rave about them enough.

In warmer weather I love to sit at their outdoor seating area literally right on the harbour watching the boats go by and the perfect sunset viewpoint. Inside you’ll find twinkly fairy lights, rustic charm and nods to its nautical theme. Adjoining the shack are upturned boats made into dining pods and separate private shacks which can be booked for an intimate dining experience.

My favourite thing is to order a selection of small plates to put in the middle of the table and share, big chunky beer battered cod bites, pil pil tiger prawns and flat breads, hummus and olives amongst my regular orders. Anyone who loves this place will rave about their chips, the twice cooked chips are just to die for! With local beers and gins on offer as well as an extensive wine list to accompany those delicious dishes.

The Fish Shack is dog friendly which is a massive bonus to those of us with pooches, although not necessary I’d recommend booking as they are often quite full. See their booking page here

You don’t have to be a seafood lover to eat here. For none fish eaters there is also a pizza menu and a couple of mains such as lamb koftas and steak, as well as some small plates that would cater.

Their sister venue The Boat House sits directly opposite on the other side of the harbour and is also a highly recommended restaurant.
