Highbury Cottage, Rothbury

Nestled in the Rothbury hills you’ll find the little gem that is Highbury Cottage, the three-bedroom, dog-friendly cosy cottage perfect for a stay in the heart of the Northumberland countryside. With amazing visitor attractions like Cragside National Trust on your doorstep, river walks and a cute local town centre to explore it really is the perfect base.

Not too far from the Northumberland coastline, Kielder, and a number of magnificent castles Highbury is perfect for your staycation or holiday in the region. With parking for two cars and an on site bike store you can bring the whole family for a Northumberland getaway.

The cottage has all the bright modern vibes but retains the cosy English country cottage feel perfectly. Each of the three bedrooms have a calming aesthetic with a comfy large bed, there are two bathrooms and a gorgeous airy conservatory.

(This was paid client work for disclosure but was so impressed I wanted to share the recommendation)

I enjoyed the generous welcome basket which included local eggs and bread, perfect for our weekend breakfast before exploring. The Nespresso coffee machine with a selection of pods was very welcome as was the milk left in the fridge and an oat milk which is my preferred coffee milk so I was delighted! I don’t often see this in holiday cottages so was a lovely touch.

Your four legged friends have been so well catered for at Highbury with a dedicated doggy station in the hallway, dog bed, blankets, treats and poo bags all provided! Even extra treats and pouches of dog food in the kitchen and with a large garden to run around and explore it’s perfect. My pup really enjoyed her stay here!

After exploring Cragside nearby it was lovely to come back to the cosy cottage, light the log burner and relax and watch the sunset roll in over the hills.

The local town centre has a number of pubs and restaurants to eat, but with a fully equipped kitchen here you can cosy up with your meal and a glass of wine and enjoy a movie night on the smart tv or play one of the many board games left for use. Perfect for families who are looking for a Northumberland getaway.

The patio doors in the living room leads to a decking area overlooking the beautiful hills and countryside its a stunning view, and a perfect place to take your morning coffee. There are a few seating areas within the garden which I imagine in summer will be gorgeous to sit out and take in the view.

I highly recommend a stay here at Highbury if you’re looking for a Northumberland getaway in a spacious cottage you’ll feel right at home in.
